What is the FEnIKS project?
The project "Adaptation and modernization of the space of the Grand Theatre in Lodz, including the purchase of equipment and furnishings" (No. FENX.07.01-IP.04-0013/24) is a comprehensive modernization of the theatre building. It is co-funded by the European Union and implemented under measure FENX.07.01 Culture and cultural tourism infrastructure, Priority FENX.07 Culture, within the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment Programme 2021-2027.
What is the project budget?
The total planned project cost is PLN 48,416,197.34, of which the European Funds contribution amounts to PLN 31,253,243.10.
What does the project scope include?
The project includes activities in the following areas:

Reconstruction, conservation renovation, and change of use of part of the underground level

Replacement of windows in the backstage area of the main building

Modernization of two entrances with accessibility adaptations for people with special needs

Renovation of cargo lift gates

Fire protection of the facility

Replacement of stage flooring on the main stage

Modernization of rooms in the administrative section

Conservation renovation of the main building's facade

Modernization of central heating in the representative section

What are the project objectives?
The main objective is to modernize and adapt the theatre building's space and purchase necessary equipment and furnishings, which will increase the diversity and impact of the cultural and educational offering. The project aims to make the Grand Theatre more accessible and attractive to audiences, contribute to the development of the cultural sphere, and improve the quality of life in the community.

Regular audiences – frequent participants in performances and premieres, lovers of classical repertoire

What will be the project outcomes?
The project plans to introduce 44 new online events, increase the number of visitors to 100,077 people per year, and create 4 jobs. The result will be more effective use of the theatre's potential – technical, cultural, and educational.
Will the project affect the theatre's accessibility?
Yes. The modernization of two entrances with adaptations for people with special needs will improve building accessibility. The project aims to make the theatre more welcoming to all audiences and visitors.
