DON PASQUALE... FOR EVERYONE!

Such indigestible confetti – Donizetti tells us to take poor Don Pasquale to the hospital. This malicious verse, published in the press after the premiere in Dresden in 1844, couldn't harm Gaetano Donizetti's excellent opera Don Pasquale – to the full approval and delight of the audience – triumphantly marched through the world's greatest opera stages. Stars like Enrico Caruso, Marcelina Sembrich-Kochański, or Arturo Toscanini considered it an honor to test themselves in this vocal-musical "game," where acting couldn't rely solely on dramatic gestures, hysterical laments, or more or less justified "insanities" and dying in agony.

For the five main characters, Donizetti created a work full of brilliance, musical, and vocal gems, in which the stage action and relationships between characters are as funny and witty as every note in Donizetti's masterful score. There is no time for boredom or a break from smiling; there are – games of appearances, subtle humor, and situational comedy.

In our Theatre, Don Pasquale has visited many times – each time with the best casts, diverse scenic visions, and directorial interpretations, and each appearance effectively amused the audience, bringing moments of relaxation and sincere smiles.

There is no doubt that this time – also thanks to the excellent cast – it will be the same. And since each generation must have "its" Don Pasquale – let's take advantage of the opportunity!

Join us, because laughter is healthy!
