The Royal String Quartet
Stars of chamber music on the Chamber Stage

The Royal String Quartet is a group of artists for whom novelty, change, and progress are always close. They continuously seek new paths and surprising connections. They enjoy playing works from the 20th century as well as new compositions, often written especially for them. They perform the latest music but do not forget about history – their repertoire includes all classical chamber music literature.

The musicians have performed at prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall and Cadogan Hall in London, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, National Gallery of Art in Washington, Le Grand Theatre in Bordeaux, the Martinů Hall in Prague, Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, Konzerthaus in Vienna, Stockholm Philharmonic, as well as at the Witold Lutosławski Studio, National Philharmonic, and Royal Castle in Warsaw, and in philharmonics in Łódź, Kraków, Kielce, and Jelenia Góra. They have also participated in many courses, working with quartets such as Amadeus, Guarneri, and Chilingirian. RSQ has conducted master classes at Dartington and Lake District Summer School in the UK, educating the youngest generation of string quartet musicians.

The ensemble regularly performs at renowned festivals, including the Mozart Festival, Beethoven Easter Festival, and Warsaw Piano Festival, Sacrum Profanum, Wratislavia Cantans, as well as BBC Proms City of London, Scottish East Neuk, Lichfield, Aldeburgh, Pulse, Irish West Cork Music, Trasimeno – the Angeli Hewitt festival in Umbria, Italy, Next Generation in Dortmund, Musikfesttage in Frankfurt, Valloires and Classique au Vert in France, and the Australian Perth International Arts Festival. A remarkable event in the quartet's career was a special concert for Queen Elizabeth II in London in May 2004.

Now this outstanding ensemble is before you - on the Chamber Stage. In the concert, we will hear string quartets by Mozart, Penderecki, and Dvořák. Let's not miss this opportunity…
