Project Title:
“Adaptation and Modernisation of the Space of the Grand Theatre in Łódź, Including the Purchase of Equipment and Furnishings” – FENX.07.01-IP.04-0013/24
The project is co-financed by the European Union and implemented under action FENX.07.01: Cultural and Cultural Tourism Infrastructure, Priority FENX.07 Culture of the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment 2021–2027.
As part of the investment, the following activities are planned:

Reconstruction, conservation renovation, and change of use of part of the underground floor of the existing cultural building,

Replacement of windows at the backstage area of the Grand Theatre's main building in Łódź,
-
Modernisation of two entrances to the Grand Theatre building, including adaptation for persons with special needs,
-
Renovation of the freight elevator gates in the main building of the Grand Theatre in Łódź,
-
Fire protection measures for the Grand Theatre building,
-
Replacement of floorboards on the main stage of the Grand Theatre in Łódź,
-
Modernisation of rooms in the so-called "administrative section" of the main building of the Grand Theatre in Łódź,
-
Conservation renovation of the façade of the Grand Theatre’s main building along with the reconstruction of the main entrance stairs,
-
Modernisation of the central heating system in the Grand Theatre in Łódź,
-
Purchase of theatre production equipment and furnishings,
-
Activities aimed at enhancing the staff’s competencies,
-
Cooperation activities with the Project’s international partner,

Project information and promotion activities.
Target Groups of the Project:
-
Regular audience – primarily adults from Łódź and the surrounding region, valuing high culture, prestige, notable stage personalities, and a classic, predictable repertoire. They regularly attend premieres, follow the programme, and use membership cards and subscriptions. This group also constitutes the core audience of the ballet arts festival “Łódź Ballet Meetings.”

Mass audience, including residents of Łódź and its immediate surroundings seeking high-quality entertainment. A diverse group by age, including youth and families with children. They are keen to attend additional events such as New Year’s Eve concerts or educational-artistic shows like musicals and outdoor performances. Mass audiences are more likely to engage via group offers.

Children and youth of school age – open to creative musical education, taste development, and fostering a habit of cultural participation. They attend dedicated shows and events, particularly art workshops and backstage tours, and enjoy participating in peer groups.

Families with children – interested in creative, active, and shared leisure experiences, benefitting from tailored offerings that allow different generations to engage in cultural activities together. They attend dedicated shows, especially Sunday Mornings and the “Opera on Cushions” series.

Persons with disabilities – particularly wheelchair users, who, thanks to partial building adaptations and the support of Theatre staff, can actively participate in the cultural life of the region.
Project Goals and Outcomes
General goals of the Grand Theatre in Łódź project:

To increase the cultural and tourism potential of the region by broadening access to unique cultural heritage resources,

To foster socio-economic development in the region,

To raise awareness and strengthen cultural identity in society,

To support the growth of cultural and leisure industries.
Main goal of the Project:
To modernise and adapt the space of the Grand Theatre building in Łódź and to purchase the equipment and furnishings necessary for delivering its cultural and educational programme. This will increase the diversity and impact of the Grand Theatre’s cultural and educational offerings by making renovated and redesigned interior spaces available to the public, and by expanding its programme. The Project includes comprehensive solutions that will make the Grand Theatre in Łódź – a key cultural institution in the region – more accessible and attractive to audiences and visitors. It will also contribute to cultural development and improved quality of life in the community. Visitor numbers, including tourists, are expected to rise, positively impacting the city’s and region’s economic growth. The Project will result in more effective use of the Theatre’s capabilities – technical, cultural, and educational.
Key Direct Outcome Indicators Relevant to the Intervention Goals:

Number of visitors to supported cultural and tourism sites: 100,077 visitors/year,

Jobs created in supported units: 4 EPC (Equivalent Permanent Contracts).

The Managing Authority of the "European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment 2021–2027" Programme (FEnIKS) places particular importance on ensuring that projects are implemented ethically, transparently, and openly.
