This original work combines the dramatic intensity of Eça de Queirós’s world with the unique expressiveness of choreography. As a contemporary exploration of intermediality, the performance evokes and reinterprets the novel’s distinctive characters and timeless themes, viewed through Queirós’s sharp, ironic lens. It is a fusion of tradition and innovation, presenting dance as a language capable of storytelling and moving audiences like few other art forms. In this new production of Os Maias, the musical score is performed by pianist António Rosado together with soloists from the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra.
