The 28th edition of the Łódź Ballet Meetings Festival has received funding from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
“Supernova” is a ballet diptych created by outstanding figures of contemporary choreography—Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar, as well as Jacek Przybyłowicz—developed for the Łódź ballet company.

When we ask AI what a supernova is, we receive a paradoxical answer: it is not the birth of a new star, but above all a process that begins with the death of a planetary structure, giving rise to a new form of existence.

Is this really the case? It is difficult to imagine from an earthly perspective. Yet the time we live in bears the marks of twilight in a broader sense—the end of old pacts and social agreements, the end of the status quo in which we once found a relative sense of historical security.

“Echoes” balances between reality and the past, highlighted by Adam Walicki’s music, which blends new sounds with echoes of the past, choreographically unified by Jacek Przybyłowicz.

“Bedroom Folk” by Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar, forming the second part of the evening, is—within the dramaturgical context—an emanation of the society to come. Or perhaps a retro-futuristic vision of a super-civilization. We do not seek definitive answers to these questions; instead, we leave them open to the audience of “Supernova.”

We invite you to watch the live stream of the second premiere performance on April 12 from 6:30 PM on our YouTube channel
