OPERA ŁÓDŹ OPENER

We invite you to unique open-air events at Dąbrowski Square, which will inaugurate the new artistic season in grand style!

September 6, 7:00 PM – ITALIAN OPERA GALA – a musical journey through the masterpieces of opera and the classics of Italian song

An evening full of passion, emotion, and unforgettable melodies – a meeting with the greatest masterpieces of Italian opera and famous Neapolitan songs, performed by outstanding soloists, the choir, and the orchestra of the Grand Theatre in Łódź.

The program will feature the spectacular overture to William Tell by Gioachino Rossini, as well as his famous, energetic cavatina of Figaro from The Barber of Seville. Giuseppe Verdi – master of drama and emotion – will be heard four times: from the legendary aria La donna è mobile from Rigoletto, through the dramatic quartet from the same opera, to the moving Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves from Nabucco and the monumental Triumphal March from Aida.

There will also be atmospheric excerpts from the operas of Giacomo Puccini – including Musetta’s and Mimì’s arias and the quartet from the finale of Act III of La Bohème, the dramatic arias from ToscaVissi d’arte and E lucevan le stelle, and the powerful emotions of the monumental opera Turandot, crowned with the famous aria Nessun dorma.

The second part of the concert will be filled with beloved Italian songs, full of nostalgia and Mediterranean charm: Chitarra Romana, Torna a Surriento, Core ’ngrato, and Mamma son tanto felice. The finale will bring the rousing Funiculì, Funiculà and the timeless O sole mio, performed together by all soloists and the choir.

September 7, 12:00 AM–4:00 PM – FAMILY PICNIC – artistic education combined with fun in a family-friendly atmosphere.

The picnic will feature numerous attractions for children and families, spread across four themed tents and the main stage. In one of the tents, there will be art workshops – in three one-hour sessions, children will create props and musical instruments. In another tent, Fairy Melodi will lead musical meetings Opera on Pillows, in a fairy-tale setting with green decorations. The promotion department invites you to its own tent with games at the wheel of fortune and gifts. In the fourth tent, visitors can try on theatrical headpieces and take souvenir photos.

Artistic experiences will also be part of the program. On stage, there will be concerts by the Children’s Choir Magic of Music and the Łódź Theatrical Choir Verdiana, accompanied by Marta Misztal and Marcin Werner. Students of the Feliks Parnell General Ballet School in Łódź will present their artistic program, and they will also be available at a stand under a tent where dance enthusiasts can take part in dance workshops.

All attractions will take place between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The workshops and activities have been adapted to suit different age groups. The picnic combines artistic education with fun in a family-friendly atmosphere. Adults are also welcome to participate. We look forward to seeing you!
