We're Modernizing the Grand Theatre in Łódź [video]

The main stage of the Grand Theatre is one of the largest opera stages in Europe. Since 1967, it has hosted more than 350 premieres. Today, it stands as one of the first public buildings visible from the Łódź Fabryczna railway station – the city invites you to take part in culture from the very first moments after stepping off the train.
The building on Dąbrowski Square, entered into the Register of Monuments of the Łódź Voivodeship in 1976, is an example of modernism with elements of classicising socialist realism.

Now we are changing, so that for decades to come, we can stage great operatic and ballet works for you. The Grand Theatre in Łódź is undergoing a comprehensive modernisation from the stage, through the technical facilities, to accessibility for audiences.

This is an investment in space, people, and the future of an institution that has been co-creating the city's identity for years. Thanks to support from the European Funds, we are gaining new opportunities to open ourselves even wider to our audiences.

All of this so that the Grand Theatre in Łódź can be open, modern, and ready to meet the needs of its audiences, artists, and the city.

The project is co-funded by the European Union and being implemented under measure FENX.07.01 Culture and Cultural Tourism Infrastructure, Priority FENX.07 Culture, as part of the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment Programme 2021–2027.
