The 70th anniversary of the Opera in Łódź
The Grand Theatre in Łódź is the largest cultural institution in the Łódź Voivodeship, the second-largest opera stage in Poland, and one of the largest in the world. The history of opera and ballet performances in Łódź began with the Łódź Opera in 1954, and in 2024, it marks exactly 70 years since the music lovers of Łódź and beyond have been able to enjoy performances first at the Stefan Jaracz Theatre and then at the New Theatre, and since 1967, at the new headquarters located at Dąbrowskiego Square in Łódź. Since 1954, we have presented almost 380 opera and ballet premieres. The Grand Theatre in Łódź has also been the organizer of the International Ballet Meetings of Łódź for over 55 years - in 2024, the XXVII edition of this ballet celebration will take place, inviting everyone from April 26 to May 22, 2022.

The culmination of the celebrations will be the outdoor performance of Stanisław Moniuszko's "The Haunted Manor" on September 6, 2024, at Dąbrowskiego Square. Additionally, on September 7, 2024, also at Dąbrowskiego Square in front of the Theatre, there will be a Jubilee Gala Concert featuring the greatest hits of classical music and more, with performances by outstanding international artists and instrumental virtuosos. These events will be a thank you to all the residents of Łódź and the region who have been our faithful audience throughout all these years. FREE ADMISSION.
